Radiology Tech - Radiology
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs radiographic, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND SKILLS:
1. Verify patient identification and correct examination.
2. Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
3. Assesses patient’s physical and mobility limitations.
4. Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
5. Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
6. Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determine exposure factors of basis of height, weight, portion of the body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density and accuracy.
7. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
8. Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including cat scans and MRI’s.
9. Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
10. Prepares images for reading by a radiologist or requesting physician.
11. Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
12. Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient’s beside.
13. Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
14. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program is required. Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Sonography is desirable. Active certification by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate. Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate.
