Surgery Manager - Surgery
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages and coordinates all functions of the Surgery and Central Sterile Department, is a key member of the top management team and helps the hospital relate to the community as a whole. Reports to the Director of Nursing and Chief Executive Officer; directly supervises all surgery personnel; communicates frequently with the Director of Nursing, other departments, and the public. Shows all team members respect and courtesy, is aware of others' needs and is willing to help, and is willing to share information and follows through. Must be present and punctual. Must be able to utilize resources efficiently - financial, material and human. Adheres to the hospital's Code of Conduct and cooperates with the Compliance Program.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Develop, recommend and implement the surgery department’s goals, objectives, policies, procedures and budget.
2. Interprets hospital policies as established by the governing board and Chief Executive Officer. Develop, recommend and assist in formulating department policies.
3. Recruit, interview and assist in hiring, evaluating, and terminating surgery employees.
4. Assure QAPI for the Surgery Department are current and ongoing and that the follow-up recommendations are implemented.
5. Annual evaluation of surgery staff and reviewed with Director of Nursing.
6. Attend all meetings to keep self and others informed on changes.
7. Participates on hospital committees pertinent to the surgery department.
8. Demonstrates leadership, the ability to apply sound principles of administration and supervision, and good interpersonal relationships.
9. Makes independent decisions, has advanced knowledge of surgical procedures and principles, nursing procedures and skilled in techniques of procedures.
10. Oversees staff that timely processing/sterilization of instruments and supplies are performed.
11. Responsible for scheduling of surgery cases and staff appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of a state approved RN program. Must be currently licensed in the State of Oklahoma an RN. Experience in surgery and central sterile departments and five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred. Should have good physical and mental health, retain emotional stability in situations of varying circumstances and exhibit flexibility for various duties. Must be able to withstand eight (8) to twelve (12) hours of physical activity, walking, bending, lifting, etc. Must have a current healthcare provider ACLS certification with Pals certification recommended.
Additional Information Position Type : Full Time Shift : Day Hourly Wage: $40.00 - $47.00 per/hour
